Mission Possible: Bikini Ready In 12 Weeks!

10 weeks to go……

Ironically, the copy of NW I bought a couple of weeks ago for my 12WBT before photo shot had a mini magazine called “Bikini Ready in 4 Weeks”.  It made me smile and I thought ‘Well if they reckon 4 weeks of that workout will get you bikini ready, I cannot wait to see what another 12 weeks of training with Mish Bridges will do for me!’.

My first summer on the beach in a bikini since I was 3 years old! BRING IT ON!

I’ve never owned bikinis before purchasing the couple I have for the before and after shots for 12WBT. I still have not worn a bikini to the beach or pool. The bikinis I have been using became too big so I purchased a cheap size 8 bikini for the before & afters for this round. It is a bit tight now however that is AOK as I am planning to see no muffin tops or under arm flab poking out around it by the end of this round!

When I started 12WBT in June last year a MASSIVE dream – one I thought was maybe 2 or 3 years away – was to wear a bikni top with denim shorts at one of the many music festivals we go to in summer. It’s not even because I love that look….it’s more about being able to wear that outfit should I choose to. About having that choice available to me. The sensible in me kinda cringes at thought of the potential sunburn but I still want to rock that bikini & denim shorts at Big Day Out or Summerfieldayze if I so desire! (Psst! The shorts have love hearts on the bottom – squeee!!)

Shorts & bikini purchased. Scouring the music mags waiting to hear the line ups for the music festivals! Scissor Sisters at Summerfielddayze on the Gold Coast is looking good.  In pre-season I did Task 8 which included measurements, weigh in and the bikini shot.  It was actually an emotional experience – I have come so far, yes, but I also have big goals set for the 12 weeks and so that before photo is still hard to do sometimes whether you have 50kg or 5kg to lose. It was TTOM and I felt like a beached whale, so bloated and bleurrgh. The new bikini is a bit tight and my new camera – wow – does it pick up some details. HAHA!  On final weigh in of last round I dropped my old camera, smashing it. Did a temporary Macgyver on it and managed to still get a couple of slightly blurry after shots before the camera died.  I purchased a very schmick new camera and it takes lovely pics…. and shows up a whole new level of detail. Showed me how much work I have to do, that’s for sure! Hahaha. If you already have PMS and feel unreasonably out of sorts, ginormous and bloated, I highly recommend putting on a slightly too small bikini and taking a photo. BAHA.  We can only move forward from that I reckon!

After feeling a bit flat from taking the before shot in the new teeny tiny bikini I got out the old bikini bottoms I bought for doing the befores & afters and those dreaded floral shorts from my first ever before shot. Here they are side by side in the first photo and in the second photo I have put the current before shot bikini on top of my first ever before shot shorts! HAHA – OMFG! I felt much better!

So – mission set: bikini ready in 12 weeks (well, 10 weeks now cos I forgot to post this earlier!). This big goal has a heap of smaller goals I have laid out to help me get there.  Can’t wait!!  Bring on December in the surf and sand! At the beach is where I have always felt most alive, most centred… but I have always covered up in embarassment – that ends now :)

xx Ange

Check out the difference in all those bikini bottoms!! And the floral shorts – love them! What a difference!! I have some beautiful jade green swimmer short/bottoms that I hiked up to look like a proper bikini bottom in my first before shot – why I just didn’t wear undies is beyond be!!

LOL Kate! I have no idea what I was thinking with those floral shorts…. I think apart from undies they were probably the only things I had to wear for the before shot. I just was not comfy to wear undies and did not own any bikini bottoms at that time. These dreaded $5 swim shorts were a $5 special at kmart….. who’d have thought I would still have them and be forever seeing myself in them in that first before shoot. LOL!

Awesome comparison Ange. Nice visual of your hard work and amazing progress. I’ve never worn a bikini in public either but it’s on the plan…

OMG That’s really inspiring to see your transformation over a year! I’m just a newbie on the 12 weeks and hope to be in similar bikini ready shape too. The sad thing is I have to buy some bigger shorts, as we’re going on vacation next week and I don’t fit into any of last year’s!

Congrats – that is so inspiring! Thanks for all your help on twitter tonight too :)

First Angela…..I have to congratulate you on your journey…..and then more importantly THANK YOU…..
I was googling Michelle Bridges…..back in July this year (after her article was in Women’s Weekly)….and a link somehow took me to you….not really sure….I am not terribly computer savvy…..but after seeing your pictures…..I signed up to my first ever 12wbt….those 5 photos really have changed my perspective on the possibilites of losing weight…..I mean REALLY losing weight…..I showed them to my hubby who was blown away….and like me….he said he would have been happy with photo 3….hahahahahaha….
I am nearing 50 and have been on a “going to eat good today” frame of mind since the age of 15….and yet I am still overweight…..
I don’t look in the mirror ever…..was distraught at having to post a photo on my stats page….But it became a case of “Suck it UP Princess”….you got yourself in this position…..
We are 4 weeks in…..I have not gone over the calorie count……the only exercise at the minute that I am really coping with is walking/shuffling and recently started cycling (due to an unsuccessful heel operation)…having said that I think I have only missed about 3 days exercising……but Mish says 80% nutrition…..so I am hoping that I will see good results….
I have never been in such a positive frame of mind EVER…and the reason for that is those Photos and for that I sincerely thank you…..and wish you all the best for your bikini-clad summer….

    Thanks again :) LeeHyphAnn
